Promising nutritional research

High doses of selenium with vitamin E may bring improvement. Orndahl G: Selenium therapy of muscular dystrophy. Acta Med Scand 213:237-9, 1983

High doses of selenium and vitamin E improved grip strength and physical capacity in five patients with muscular dystrophy, especially in patients in earlier stages of the disease. Orndahl G et al: Myotonic dystrophy treated with selenium and vitamin E. Acta Med Scand 219(4):407-14, 1986

A boy diagnosed with myopathy and motor neuropathy was found to have a defect in the enzyme NADH dehydrogenase and dramatically improved on vitamin B2 and carnitine therapy, with normalization of the enzyme defect.
